Porting Timeline
| Aspect | Timeline |
|---|---|
| Service Outage Window | Approximately 3 hours maximum |
| Typical Service Interruption | Maximum of 30 minutes |
Restrictions & Special Conditions
- The LoA must be signed with a wet signature (handwritten, not digital).
- The address on the LoA must be a local address within the same city as the number prefix being ported.
- The CVP (Portability Validation Code) must be obtained from the current provider prior to submitting the port request. This is a mandatory migration code.
- Numbers with associated services (mainline numbers) cannot be ported, as the porting process cancels those services.
Key Definitions
- CVP (Portability Validation Code) — A migration code issued by the current (losing) carrier that authorizes the port-out of the number. Must be obtained before submitting the porting request.
- Wet Signature — A physical, handwritten signature on the document (as opposed to a digital or electronic signature).
Notes
- Portugal requires more documentation than many other countries, including both a CVP code and a Power of Attorney.
- Ensure the address on all documents matches the city/area of the number prefix to avoid rejection.
